With a busy summer period for most of our members it was good to get together with a autumn field to catch up with each other and talk about the summer season just finished and the seasons a head . we where lucky enough to be hosted by 3 local growers based around the Whakamarama area which grew a large variety of crops between them .

The first of our field trip location was that of David and Dianne Jones on Ross rd they had a very impressive set up growing solely hydrangeas . The knowledge and understanding David has of his hydrangea crop was very impressive. Im sure there will be many of our members bouncing ideas of him in the future .

Our second property we visited was that of Graham and Maureen curry have grown been the the flower game for many years and grown many different crops over time .

while still producing for both the local and export markets more and more produced is being sent to the local market as the local market strengthens.

Our last property of the day was that of DIanne newtons in Plummers point.

Dianne grows viburnum berries and Pittosporum for the export market she also has Hydrangeas and Phylica all of her products seems to be a good demand and keeps her busy over both the summer and winter periods .
